i. dhuha design

It’s been a couple of years now since the first idea of [Dhuha] was born… though it went cocooning immediately…



But…
Today [Dhuha] came out again to existence and hopefully it will continue to blossom…
But what is [Dhuha]?
[Dhuha] is my dream design identity… it is my name in the design and media world…
Why [Dhuha]?
[Dhuha] = [ضحى ] means literary in Arabic the forenoon or the morning light… the early morning when the sun light turns from red to white…
I was always fascinated with Surat Ad-Dhuha, chapter 93, Holy Quran…
And for many reasons |some are very personal| I love this chapter… it was sent talking to Prophet Mohammed PBUH… but I feel that it addresses each one of us as well… and the meaning behind the verses are just amazing…

Some very lovely meanings…

[Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hates you] verse 3
[And verily, your Lord will give you so that you shall be well-pleased] verse 5
[And proclaim the Grace of your Lord] verse 11

For me…

Been a good time… just good…

Yesterday I finished a course with architecture first year students… the course is “Basics of Design” and their final project was to design a 3D form using three strips of different materials [paper, metal mesh, and a cloth]… using different techniques of folding, bending,…
Anyways… some of them did come up with very interesting compositional, spatial and functional forms… here are my favorites…
God… I really enjoy teaching…

WHAT??!!!

By chance I heard about Pat Robertson who is predicting mass killings in USA this year… he claims that God has spoken to him and told him that… [!!!!!]
COME ON!!! I think the world is fed up with such imbeciles who abuse religion…
But that was not what shocked me about Robertson… a year ago he made a strong statement saying that God has punished Ariel Sharon… but wait a second… “ […] Sharon was personally a very likeable person[...]” and what Mr. Robertson think caused God to punish Sharon is not the HUGE amount of death and terror he caused to the people… but… the fact that “[…] he was dividing God's land [...]”… WHAT???
Excuse me Mr. Robertson… I don’t think that God thinks of Israel alone as His land… the whole universe is God’s… if anything I think God would be angry for the number of people killed by His name…
I think am too pissed off to comment any more…

Father and Son...

Father and Son... a famous 70s soft rock hit song by Cat Stevens... who later on embraced Islam and was renamed Yusuf Islam... first time I heard the song was by BoyZone 8 years ago... and I was moved by the strong lyrics... “From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen..."
A couple of years ago... the song was revived once again with an extraordinary video clip performed both by Ronan Keating [from BoyZone] and Yusuf Islam... the idea of the video clip is really cool with the usage of still photos while both are wandering around them...
It’s been a time since I really understood the real power of the still image… of a frozen frame… that tells a story of years past or years to come…
Not always we need motion to understand time… not always we need to say exactly what we mean to be understood…
And not always our silence means we should listen…
